Big Mag exhibition at the DOX Centre for Contemporary Art in Prague, Czech Republic.

Recently I visited the young but huge DOX centre in Prague and saw the substantial exhibit BigMag: Other Magazines in the Czech Republic since 1989. It presents the history of alternative magazines, fanzines and other media in Czech Republic since the revolution, and many of the magazines are hard to find elsewhere. This exhibit presented an archive, a history wall, video and audio and reading stations, as well as readable copies of most of the magazines, a really nice touch that makes the exhibit extremely effective. When I visited a czech news crew were interviewing some of the participants and making a news segment for TV. Excellently curated by Ales Najbrt, Bohumil Vasak and Michal Nanoru. This is a model for any other institution attempting to present mainstream or alternative print media in an accessible, well-designed and user-friendly fashion. Many photos below.
