I recently left my position as Curator of the Riverside Art Museum to begin a 10-month round-the-globe trip. I’ll be meeting artists, musicians, curators, filmakers, graffiti writers, comix artists, zinesters, radio pirates, interventionists, urban explorers, DJs, assorted arts organizations and many other compatriots within and outside of the art bustle. I am currently traveling on the west coast and will be traveling on the east coast for 2 months before heading to Europe and then Asia. Before I left SoCal, I had a studio blowout part and record release party for my record label Jewish Noise. And Riverside Art Museum hosted a great goodbye party for me and it was really bittersweet to say goodbye to so many great friends and collaborators from the community.
Before I left, the last program I put together was a panel discussion for the exhibit Adelante Siempre. I also enjoyed speaking at several colleges, including Mt. San Antonio College and Riverside City College. I talked about curating in the public sphere and possibilities and examples for making and creating space for public art projects. The students were enthusiastic, inspired, excited. All in all, it was a great send-off as I venture out on the open road.
